SkyShark Next Generation

An original and revised custom design by 3point

A Brief History: The SkyShark was first designed/introduced for the v6 X-Plane design contest focused around the new Williams FJX-2 engine. A set of parameters were given and aircraft were judged for best design and performance. I designed the SkyShark to be stream lined and low drag for maximum speed and to have enough wing span for a nice low stall character. I was delighted that the SkyShark tied for 1st place.

Since then, the aircraft has gone through a few revisions. In this revision a new virtual cockpit has been added, the fuselage has been refined, the flight model has been tweaked, new liveries have been introduced, and more. One of the nicest features added to this revision was the ease of editing the instrument panels in Planemaker without additional artwork. You merely just need to delete and add instruments to your liking and save. A custom blank livery is included to help make your own liveries. You can custom tailor inside and out to fit your needs.

All in all this is a fast, nimble aircraft with decent range to take you to your favorite destinations and flies very forgiving. Whether your a beginner or experienced pilot you can have fun. I often use the aircraft to explore new sites.

The SkyShark comes in 4 versions and 7 liveries.

This is just an example to show the benefits of flying with extra fuel on board. The blue circle is with standard fuel flying the SkyShark. The green circle is with belly and wing tip tanks flying the SkySharkMil or SkySharkNavy. The SkySharkBK has a Maximum range of 1000 NM (not shown).

Notes:    The aircraft is enhanced to function in both switched interior viewing mode and virtual cockpit mode. To look around in 2D mode you can use the keyboard or assign joystick buttons. By default X-Plane uses the "q" and "e" keys to cycle around. To view backward use the "z" key. To enter into virtual cockpit mode use "ctrl-o". The instrument panels are 1024x1024 so you will need to scroll using the arrow keys on the keyboard or assign joystick buttons. The 2D instrument panels are designed for easy reading of instruments and use full scale instruments for best clarity.
